On my way to an appointment this afternoon, I ran over our cat Slippers backing out of our driveway.

Her leg and pelvis were broken in three places and we had to put her down.

It sucked.

It sucked hard.

We all got to say goodbye at the vet, and her last memory was her human family loving on her right before she fell asleep for the last time.

She was purring as the vet administered the 4 shots that slowly ended her life.

Our kids handled is very well, I am still shaken by the whole experience, but I will get over it. It stinks being the one responsible for something like this, even though there was nothing more I could have done.

We will miss her terribly, and I will miss her almost obsessive need to sit on my lap and be close to me.

She was a good friend, and we cherished the ten years we shared with her.

Goodbye Slippers, may you rest in peace.
