Mission: To create, establish and promote a nationally recognized flag that would fly as a visible reminder to all Americans of the lives lost in defense of our national freedoms.
Rationale: There is no officially recognized symbol that reminds us of the ultimate sacrifices made by members of the United States military in service to our country.
I watched this afternoon as my friend George Lutz revealed a new national symbol to honor the men and women that have paid the ultimate price. It was a beautiful ceremony in downtown Norfolk and as I stood there with my children, I couldn’t help but feel that we were witnessing history.
What a privilege to know George and walk with him and his family on this journey that has been set before them. What an honor to live in Virginia where so many have sacrificed so much for our freedom. What an opportunity we have to honor and remember and never forget the price that has been paid.
